THRACE. Philippopolis. Septimius Severus, 193-211. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 29 mm, 15.58 g, 12 h), circa 209-210. ΑΥΤ Κ Λ CΕΠT CΕYΗΡΟC Π Laureate head of Septimius Severus to right. Rev. ΜΗΤ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΠΟΛΕ/ΩC River-god Hebros reclining to left under tree, head to right, resting his right hand on prow and leaning left on urn from which water flows; in exergue, three small figures washing gold from the waves, with the one in the middle using a round vessel. Varbanov 1209. Varbanov, Philippopolis, XIII.16.2. Very rare. Somewhat rough and with a small scratch on the reverse, otherwise, about very fine.
